"Miguel & William" celebrates the fictitious encounter of the famous European poets Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare
With MIGUEL & WILLIAM, the new film by Spanish director Inés Paris ("My Mother likes Women"), Munich-based world sales company Bavaria Film International enters into an international distribution agreement with Spain's Zebra Producciones and broadcaster rtve – Radio Televisión Española for world wide rights outside of Spain. Produced by Antonio Saura's Zebra Producciones and UK-based Future Film Group, MIGUEL & WILLIAM is the story of the fictitious encounter of English poet and "bon vivant" William Shakespeare (1564–1616) and Spanish dramatist Miguel de Cervantes (1547–1616), the creator of the legendary novel "Don Quixote de la Mancha". Needless to say, it is a woman who brings the two star-writers together. A witty and fierce competition for the love of this beautiful woman is starting – by means of words and of swords, if necessary…

Featuring an outstanding cast with Spain's "European Shooting Star 2004" and Goya-nominee Elena Anaya ("Van Helsing", "Sex and Lucía"), British actor/dancer Will Kemp ("Van Helsing", "Mindhunters"), double Goya-winner and Spanish movie icon Juan Luis Galiardo ("Lisístrata", "El caballero Don Quijote") and the famous star of "Dr. Zhivago", Geraldine Chaplin, MIGUEL & WILLIAM is one of Spain's high profile productions of the year and with 8 Mio. € also Spain's biggest budget film ever directed by a woman.

Inés Paris, PhD, is one of the most promising cinema directors in Spain, who equally handles the genres comedy and tragedy in an exceptionally balanced way. Before she became a film director succeeding with "Semen, una historia de amor" (2005) and the triple Goya-nominee "My Mother likes Women" (2002) which has been released in about 30 territories including the USA, Inés Paris developed considerable experience as a scriptwriter for movies and television. Her doctoral thesis was about Spanish Baroque Theatre, specialising in Miguel de Cervantes.

MIGUEL & WILLIAM is co-produced by Miguel & William, a Spanish start-up company founded by film professionals like actor Juan Luis Galiardo, and by Antonio Saura's Zebra Producciones in addition with Don Quijote de la Mancha 2005, S.A. as well as UK-based Future Film Group. The film will be released in Spain by Warner Bros. in February 2007. Bavaria Film International is going to introduce first images of this dazzling title to the international marketplace during the newly established RomeFilmFestival (October 13–21,2006).
