It happened ten years ago. The twelve-year-old daughter of Kai and Maria Wagner was raped and murdered by a young family friend, Olaf. Now, after serving his sentence, Olaf is free. But why does he move into an apartment just a stone's throw from the Wagner family's new home? And why does he lurk around their house and unsettle them with anonymous phone calls? Kai and Maria now have a second daughter, Lilli. They're confused and frightened, terrified that Olaf has returned to inflict more pain upon them. An aging policeman is assigned to the case, but is no match for Olaf's speed and cunning. While Kai obtains a revolver, Maria watches nearly hysterically over Lilli, who has no idea what's going on. Yet has Olaf come to hurt them - or, as he claims, to seek their forgiveness? With each passing day, both Olaf and the Wagners spiral out of control and find themselves trapped in a situation that can only end in tragedy.
