Richard, who's just been passed over for an important promotion, finds out that his wife is having an affair with his arch-enemy. As if that weren't enough, he also learns that he has an illegitimate daughter on Majorca. He contemplates suicide, but chooses Majorca instead, renting a room at the hotel run by Hanna, the woman he spent that single - and fateful - night of love twenty years ago. Since he's using a pseudonym and has put on some weight since their tryst, Hanna doesn't recognize him. And her daughter Antonia can't stand him. No wonder, since Richard spends his time complaining about the conditions in Hanna's hotel. Indeed, Hanna and Antonia are doing the best they can, but they urgently need an imaginative cook and a talented handyman if they want to survive the fierce competition on Majorca. The hotel becomes the stage for a fireworks of surprising revelations when Richard's wife, daughter and best friend arrive on Majorca. While Hanna and Antonia learn of Richard's true identity, Richard's wife dishes out a major confession of her own that again turns everything upside down. Once the waves of emotion have calmed down, all parties agree that Richard - who happens to be an excellent cook and handyman - should start a new life on Majorca…

Tout commence par une importante promotion qui lui passe sous le nez, puis il découvre que sa femme le trompe avec l'homme qu'il déteste le plus au monde et, comme si cela ne suffisait pas, Richard apprend encore qu'il a une fille illégitime à Majorque. Hésitant entre le suicide et Majorque, Richard décide finalement de partir au soleil et loue une chambre à l'hôtel tenu par Hanna, la femme à laquelle il a offert cette seule et fatale nuit d'amour, vingt ans auparavant. Comme il s'inscrit sous un pseudonyme et qu'il a pris du poids depuis cette fameuse nuit, Hanna ne le reconnaît pas. Et sa fille, Antonia, ne peut pas le sentir. Pas étonnant, car Richard passe son temps à se répandre en récriminations sur les conditions d'hébergement. Il est vrai que si Hanna et Antonia font de leur mieux, elles auraient bien besoin d'un cuisinier un peu plus créatif et d'un factotum talentueux pour pouvoir faire face à la féroce concurrence qui règne à Majorque. Les révélations s'enchaînent à un rythme effréné lorsque débarquent soudain à l'hôtel la femme de Richard, flanquée de sa fille et du meilleur ami de Richard. Tandis qu'Hanna et Antonia apprennent la véritable identité de Richard, la femme de ce dernier y va de sa propre confession qui retourne complètement la situation. Une fois les ondes de choc calmées, toutes les parties conviennent que Richard qui, par hasard, est un excellent cuisinier et un habile bricoleur, devrait prendre un nouveau départ à Majorque...

Er mietet sich in dem Hotel ein, das just derselben Hanna gehört, mit der er vor 20 Jahren die bewusste schicksalhafte Nacht verbracht hatte. Da er sich unter falschem Namen eingetragen und überdies seit dem damaligen Ereignis einige Pfunde zugelegt hat, weiß Hanna nicht, wer sich da in ihren Räumlichkeiten aufhält. Ihre Tochter Antonia kann den Gast nun gar nicht ausstehen, denn er hat nichts anderes zu tun als sich den ganzen Tag über die Zustände in Hannas Hotel zu beschweren. Mögen sich Hanna und Antonia auch noch so sehr bemühen - wenn sie der gewaltigen Konkurrenz auf Mallorca standhalten wollen, brauchen sie einen fantasievollen Koch und ein Faktotum, das den Laden in Schwung bringt. Erst einmal aber wird das Hotel zum Schauplatz überraschender Enthüllungen, als Richards Ehefrau in Begleitung der gemeinsamen Tochter und seines besten Freundes auftaucht. Hanna und Antonia erfahren, wer Richard wirklich ist, und Richards Frau wartet mit einem Geständnis auf, das die ganze Angelegenheit noch komplizierter macht. Nachdem sich die Wogen geglättet haben, kommt man überein, dass es das beste wäre, wenn Richard auf Mallorca einen Neuanfang wagte - zumal er als exzellenter Koch und Faktotum die besten Referenzen hat.
