Producer's Award 2000 Festival Opening Film at Hof Film Festival 1999 Julia Brandt has just graduated from high school and decided she's had enough of her comfy life in Germany and her overbearing mother Hanne. Without telling Hanne, she leaves for Australia to realize her dream of freedom and to visit her uncle Max, who runs a vineyard there. On the plane, the naïve young Julia meets two young Australians, Sandy and Mark, who use her as an unwitting courier to smuggle heroin through customs. But by the time Sandy and Mark can catch up with Julia again, they are horrified to learn that Julia has sent her excess luggage - including the dope - off to her uncle's place. Graciously offering her a ride, Sandy and Mark set off for the vineyard with Julia. Meanwhile, the police suspect Julia of being involved with drug dealing and are looking for her. Worried sick, Hanne travels to Australia and joins young policeman Steve's efforts to find Julia. What worries Hanne most, however, is that Julia is traveling through a remote outback area where the bodies of several young female backpackers have been found raped and murdered...
