Bavaria Media Television is active in two areas: international coproduction, i.e. the planning and packaging of international TV productions, and the international distribution of TV programs. These programs come in part from the pool of productions made by the public broadcaster ARD and in part from independent producers in Germany and abroad.

Bavaria Media Television is a division of Bavaria Media GmbH which handles the international TV, video and theatrical licensing rights for its parent company Bavaria Film GmbH. Whereas Bavaria Media Television focuses on the distribution and coproduction of TV programs, the Bavaria Film International division exploits the rights of German and international theatrical films on the international cinema market.

Bavaria Film GmbH has, in addition to Bavaria Media GmbH, a number of subsidiaries and corporate interests in companies that cover the entire range of film and television production (with all its services) and exploitation. The Bavaria Film Group is also internationally active in the field of production thanks to its two foreign subsidiaries Bavaria Media Italia in Rome and Satel Film in Vienna.

With an output of about 30.000 minutes of television programming annually, the Bavaria Film Group is constantly replenishing the libraries of its licensing arms - giving rise to a valuable portfolio of timeless entertainment.

The Bavaria Media Group is a corporate member of german united distributors Programmvertriebs GmbhH. This is a consortium that consists of the sales arms of certain major public broadcasters. Its goal is to bring together a wide range of quality programs and to make joint appearances at the large markets and trade fairs (MIPCOM, MIP TV, German Screenings). The other distributors in the association are german united documentary (Cologne) and Studio Hamburg Distribution & Marketing (Hamburg) as well as the broadcasters WDR and NDR.
